October 26:
Heading out tomorrow for Amsterdam. We are doing a Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest, Hungary. We spend most of the time in Germany and a couple days in Vienna, Austria. We also added an extension to Prague, Czech Republic (by bus). Over the moon excited!
The second picture is our upgraded stateroom, a “French Balcony” stateroom (bigger windows). When I booked the tour the salesperson said that the lowest priced staterooms were sold out so we might get an upgrade. We did!
The Danube is low. We were changed to a different ship because of it. Hoping it rains on the Danube before we get there, or we could potentially have a ship swap or some other accommodation to the low water level. November is their rainy month. We’ll see. May have to hide out in a castle or cathedral or even sacrifice and find a bakery or two if it’s rainy.
We will post lots of pictures. Stay tuned.
October 27:
Our trip has now become way more adventurous. United cancelled our flight. We would have been fine flying across the Atlantic but landing might have been a little dicey.
We are now traveling on Lufthansa and visiting Munich before getting into Amsterdam an hour AFTER our boat leaves for Kinderjik, Netherlands, about 66 miles away. Viking will meet us in Amsterdam and transfer us! Yeah!
We met another couple also going on our Viking Cruise waiting at the same gate. They weren’t able to get on the same flight so they will arrive an hour later. So, eventually we will get there. Hopefully our baggage will too!
